Location and physical description |
The
park is situated on the road connecting Morondava and Belo/Tsiribihina
in the coastal plain of Morondava, between the villages of Marofandilia
and Beroboka Sud, inside the new conservation area . The grounds porous
aspect that does not favor the waters retention causes a rapid flow
and also a rapid draining during the dry season that lasts 7 to 8
month ; this is why most of hydrographic systems are reduced to permanent
or dried stretch of water . Several tracks starting from the secondary
road lead to the Kirindy Park .

The climate |
The humid season stretches from
November to February (700 to 900 mm) and the dry season spreads over
7 to 8 month, which reduced the rivers to irregular stretch of water
. The maximal annual temperature is 31° C and the minimal of 19°
C.

The flora |
The
concession is covered with dry deciduous forest marked by remarkable
species of Adansonia grandidieri baobabs . The others xerophytic species
as Euphorbias , Pachypodium, have a great variety of adaptation . The
strange form of the vegetation testifies its great ability of adaptation
; the phenomenon of water accumulation , the photosynthesis in the stem
explains the long period of absence of leaves.
