Belief and Traditions
FORT DAUPHIN , situated at the extreme South East of Madagascar ,it is an old historical city built by the French Jacques de PRONIS. It owes its name to the heir of the France throne who reigned from 1643 under the famous name of Louis XIV. Careful spirits have developped natural reserves at Berenty and Nahampoina.Beside the natural history, there is also the social history : it is the main locality of Antanosy tribe, a human group very jealous of its traditions ; the vestiges left by European adventurers of the XVI and XVII. centuries give a certain style of the city. And one summarizes the whole by the climbing of the Peak St Louis (329 m ) from where one has a panoramic view of the totality.
Berenty private reserve

It belongs to de HEAULME family , settled for a long time in the south Malagasy. Besides the realization of beautiful sisal plantations , this family has chosen to protect a private forest sector of the Mandrare valley. BERENTY possesses one of the better known fauna of vertebrates of Madagascar. Visitors can admire there a fauna of lemur, tortoise and birds ... and the forest gallery, dominated by tamarindus , spiny and other succulent species and crassulaceae.

The Nahampoina Domain
(duration : 4 hours)
Nahampoina offers the flora and the fauna of a rain forest as well as a botanical path containing endemic plants of the southern Malagasy , some fruit trees and tropical plant : such as the carnivorous plant " nepenthes madagascariensis ", and medicinal plants ....It is also a shelter for a few species of Lemurs and reptiles : tortoises , chameleons, lizards and crocodiles ...

The City and The Saiadî garden
(duration : 4 hours)
The city endowed with a clement climate is surrounded by mountains among the most beautiful of the Great island. Its immediate rear ground shelters the unavoidable lemurs and species of endemic plants that make Madagascar a world apart .The zoological and botanical garden Saïadi where one can see different species of palm trees and tropical plant shelters also two species of lemurs that live on the islet in liberty.
