DIEGO
SUAREZ
, or Antsiranana, owes its name to a Portuguese navigator that explored
its vicinities. The city, situated at the extreme north of Madagascar,
is sheltered by the one of the most beautiful bays of the world, considered
as the second after Rio de Janeiro. The city wears a strong imprint of
the French colonial presence. An ancient military base has been transformed
into shipbuilding and refit centre . Antsiranana is a true tourist region,
rich especially of its curiosities environments :sacred lake , beautiful
forests, cascades, sugar loaf

tour and Ramena Beach |
| (duration
: 4 hours) |
This
city differs from all other parts of the country by its cosmopolitan
population who always follow and confuse the rhythms of life as an African,
oriental and occidental. At the center of this colonial and historical
city, the market displays, where reigns a nonchalant and colored atmosphere.
One finds there all administrative offices and the town hall .At the
city exit , an asphalted road leads to Ramena (20km), a splendid beach
under the coconut trees where can have a splendid view on the bay of
Diego. Ramena is at the same time a residential quarter and a fishermen
village. |
